Old Barn Wood Project & Cherry Dump Cake

We had a pretty great Sunday just doin stuff at home...

 ~ I love this...
My honey was busy building this to put his bottle collection on... the man loves to collect bottles when we go treasure hunting at Peddlers Mall or Antique stores. Friends gave us old barn wood last year and we've been coming up with ideas on how to use it on our home. My honey thinks of neat ideas... hes a great handy man ;)

I was busy cleaning a very dirty neglected kitchen , watching the barnyard animals through my kitchen window as I washed the dishes, then started cookin dinner and I also made the time to love on my sweet baby goats, thats a everyday must!

Pure Sweetness Right Here!

Loaded mash potatoes... I always add sour cream, salt, pepper, garlic powder and of course milk/butter to my potatoes, lately I've been adding shredded cheese, green onions and bacon bits for "Loaded", Yum.

Kinda looks like we had Easter Dinner early...

Peach Cherry Crunch Cake
24.5 oz jar of sliced peaches in light syrup I used 2 pints of home canned cherries
1 package yellow cake mix
1 stick butter (1/2 cup), cut into 16 pieces
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped walnuts I used 2 handfuls of crushed up almond slices
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Layer ingredients in a 13 X 9 dish, in order starting with the peaches.
Bake for about 40 minutes.
Serve warm or cold… with or without ice cream.
Enjoy!

Goat Milk Yogurt Is Done

The link to how I made my goats milk yogurt is posted H-E-R-E check it out & make yourself some, its really good. I let let mine cook in the heatin pad for 12-13 hours. I've already got another quart from todays milkin in the works. I also made more farmers cheese with 2 quarts this mornin. I saved the whey, using 2 cups of it in Amish white bread I'm bakin today & Piper was one lucky farm kitty she got a nice warm bowl of whey for breakfast.

Even though the yogurt turned out pretty think I went ahead & drained about 1/2 of it through a coffee filter to make it supper thick like Greek yogurt.

See how thick it turned out & I only used 2T of store bought starter.

I couldnt wait I went ahead & fixed me a bowl for breakfast

You will need to add sweetener to your own bowls... I like to use some of my jams or toppings, this mornin I'm using my canned cherry topping & sliced almonds... yum yum good!

Cherry Topping
It was suppose to be jam but it didnt thickin enough so its topping now :)

All About Cherries...

Arent they beautiful

4 pints
(I made it like ya would blueberry jam)

I do not have a cherry pitter & after pittin cherries for hours, I was really wantin one, lol. I had 4 tools to use... a tooth pick, paper clip, long tweezers & a straw. I actually used the straw the most, it worked really good, I did have to keep snippin the end off to keep the straw workin good. Towards the end my hands where really hurting so the tweezers worked for me better.

The straw just pokes the pit right through the other end :)

Froze some to use later in the year
