Our beets are starting to come in....

This is our 1st year growing beets... Brian loves them and I just found out I like em too. We've picked a couple lately... 45 yesterday evening :) I decided to try canning some this morning, looked up recipes... didnt have the ingredients for any fancy kind ... So I canned plain ol beets. They didnt turn out the way I wanted them too, they lost alot of coloring. I will try and try and try again........I also went and pulled some more up today for dinner... I just boiled them, pretty good. Going to roast them in the oven for dinner tomorrow.

1st canned beets of the season

If you have a good beet recipe feel free to share.... Thanks

Lets take a trip down berry lane...

Its a BEAUTIFUL morning in Hart County today... sun is shining, birds are singing, Sally Sue our lil roo is crowing and berries need picking...
So I thought I'd take ya'll along today, before the heat wave hits,
its going to be in the 90's again today!

Good Morning Chickies...

Heres where all the picking starts... just got to work yourself in there and be on the lookout for snakes. Havent ran into to one... yet!

I really need my honey to do some weed eating down in the berry patches... with all the rain we have gotten lately the weeds have really taken over!

These are our big berries... I'm thinking they are wild blackberries?
What do ya'll think?

Oh and here our the dew berries...

Found this guinea a couple of weeks ago... sitting on her nest of eggs in one of the berry patches. She doesnt blink or make a sound when I'm picking, she just watches me... cant wait to see her little keets running around.

Flew The Coop....

Looked out the back door this evening and what did I see... 5 baby guineas looking at me, lol. Well we are in trouble now, they are testing their wings out and flew to the top of the run and the ChIcKeN ShAcK roof and there was 2 chickies out of the run... Dylan and I had to rounded them up and but them back in... I need to go read about wing clipping! Looks like its about that time, one day we are going to but a net or something for the run.

This is my favorite pic of Sally Sue so far... I just think its BEAUTIFUL of him.

The Grass Really Is Greener On The Other Side...

When it comes to Chickens that is, lol
We are adding on to the chicken run so they can get out and have some nice green grass. They really like it...

The guineas are doing great with the chickens now... they still pretty much stick together and they come out into the chicken yard when they feel like it.

Also we let Cinnamon & sugar out of their area in the coop today, we've been trying for acouple of days now but the other chickens where really being mean to them. They picked at them alittle at first but by the end of the day everyone was doing fine.
