Ham and Cheddar Cornbread

...Tonights Dinner...

Pic. speaks for itself... It was good stuff, family liked it.

*I seen this recipe and wanted to try it. I just made my cornbread as usual, then poured half in the pan, topped it with ham slices and cheese then poured the rest of the cornbread mixture on that and baked for 20-25 mins. I will be makin this again. It went great with our beans tonight.

  3. Thanks Trisha... Dinner was good.

I do the quick clean/soak on the back of the bag, then cook em in a big pot with a ham bone and seasoning,(usually salt, pepper, garlic powder, sometimes Italian seasoning. I bring them to a boil, then simmer for a couple hours with the lid tilted, stir every once in awhile. I didnt time my cookin, so I dont know how long they cooked, I just cook em til they are done the way I like em... I dont like them mushy or hard, somewhere in the middle :) They got done before it was dinner time so I just took them off the heat and put the lid all the way on them to keep hot.

  5. Goodwife, this was my 1st time makin cornbread like this, very good, something different. I told the family dont expect it everytime (cause they will) but it will be nice to fix it every once in awhile to change things up a bit... I am makin more tonight to go with the leftover beans, for tonights dinner.
